| Notre Dame wins big at the Sheffield Telegraph Environment Awards! |
|
At a glitzy award ceremony in Sheffield Mr Martin and Mrs Willis collected two awards for the school on Wednesday 15th October. We had fingers crossed that our eco-schools work might win us the senior school category but we were totally shocked to be awarded the overall Sheffield Environment Award which chooses the best of all the award winners on the night from all sorts of organisations, many with a far longer history of working on sustainability projects than us. Associate Headteacher, Mr Martin said "These awards are the result of a very large team of staff and students who are all doing their bit towards making Notre Dame more environmentally friendly and our thanks go to them and Mr Haigh for coordinating the whole approach to sustainability" The school is very grateful to HSBC who have supported the school’s environmental work with finance and encouragement, and also to Luke Williamson at Sheffield Council and the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust for guidance and to environmental contractors White Horse Green People, Eco-watch, Wild Knowledge and Fieldfare Trusts for being true partners in the various projects.
