At KS3 pupils complete a number of units of work that enable them to follow the Programme of study for Key Stage 3. The programme has 4 main areas that pupils should demonstrate capability in. Each pupil’ level of capability in these areas is then assessed in each unit to give a unit grade.
When a unit of work is given pupils will receive a mark sheet showing what they have to do to get a certain level in that unit.
When the unit is completed and handed in by the pupil the teacher will complete a marksheet for each pupil.
The worksheet shows; • Which skill levels relating to the unit the pupil has successfully completed. • Teachers comment to the pupil on the unit and how they could have improved. • The level the unit was given.
Please note that the unit level may not be the same as the overall level given to the pupil in monitoring as the overall level should reflect the pupil’s attainment across all 4 of the key processes and not just those attained in one unit of work.
Each of the assessment criteria on the mark sheet relate to a particular National Curriculum assessment criteria and we store these as the pupil progresses through units to give a more complete picture of what level a pupil is actually working at/towards.
