Switch-Off Fortnight 19th Nov-2nd Dec

switchoff

The Eco-Team will be launching the Switch-Off Fortnight campaign in school on Monday 19th November. Our aim is to get students, teachers and parents taking action to save energy in school and in the home.

The Eco-Team will carry out an audit at the start of the fortnight to see how many lights and appliances are left on around the school. We will then run an awareness campaign to encourage people to save energy, and when the two weeks are up, conduct a second audit to see if the campaign has been successful in persuading people to use electricity more carefully.

To raise awareness the Eco-Team have been into assemblies to talk to students and staff about what they can do to help. Forms will be asked to take part by turning off the lights in their classroom for one form period during the fortnight and will be given an energy saving quiz to have a go at. There will also be lots of publicity around the school in the form of posters and stickers, and watch out for our undercover energy agents snooping around the school!

By the end of Switch-Off Fortnight, we hope that everyone will be more aware of the importance of saving energy and may also have considered the ways in which small decisions can have a national and global effect. Taking part should help to reduce our school’s energy bill and CO2 emissions too.

So please help us in this campaign by ‘Switching Off’!
