|Islam Awareness Week|
As the president of the Islamic Society of Britain, Sheffield, I am delighted that Islam Awareness Week (IAW) has become a recognised event in the British calendar. IAW was initiated by the Islamic Society of Britain in 1994, to raise awareness and remove misconceptions surrounding Britain’s second largest faith group.
As IAW celebrates 20 years, I undoubtedly believe that this week has now become not only a means of removing misconceptions, but has grown to assist in enhancing community cohesion with the aim of building a peaceful and loving society; a society where communities are empowered to support one another through the understanding and appreciation of each other’s faith and beliefs; a society where everyone is encouraged to play their rightful role in building a prosperous Britain for all.
I would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite you to the 20th anniversary of Islam Awareness Week. The national launch will take place at the Sheffield United FC Platinum Suite on Monday, 11th of March 2013. The launch will be an evening of inspiration and though provoking speeches from our keynote speakers who include the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg and Ex-MTV presenter, Kistiane Backer amongst others.
We hope that you will be able to attend the launch which will surely be a laudable evening with your presence.
